orial Field renovation project at John Burroughs High School and we are pleased to announce that the dedication ceremony is set for Saturday, February 25, at 11:00 a.m.

The joint project, with an estimated cost of $12.1M, was financed with BUSD construction project funds, City of Burbank funds, and donations from local businesses and members of the community.

The renovation project consists of a new athletic field with artificial turf for football and soccer, and areas for long jump, triple jump, shot put, and discus events; a new all-weather track; new lighting and ADA accessible bleachers; a new scoreboard; new restrooms, storage, and concession facilities on both the home and visitor sides; and a new parking lot with bus drop-off and landscaping.

The entire community is invited to help us celebrate this event, which will include a military flyover, addresses by school district and city officials, and a victory walk of one lap around the new track. In keeping with the military history of the field, a sculpture titled “Home” by local artist Shiela Cavalluzzi will be unveiled along with commemorative plaques to honor JBHS staff and alumni who lost their lives during World War II. Special recognition will be given to all members of the military, active and retired, who are encouraged to attend.

A series of black granite donor walls form part of the new Cusumano Plaza at the corner of Verdugo Street and Parish Place. These walls list the names of all businesses and individuals who have contributed $500 or more to this important community facility. If you would like to have your name included in time for the February 25 ceremony, please contact Jenny Jones at (818) 729-4455. The deadline is January 30. All donations are tax-deductible. Donations will also be accepted the day of the event and throughout the year.
