Three Burbank Businesses Cited For Selling to Minors

By Staff on December 22
Tweet

The Burbank Police Department Vice/ Narcotics Unit conducted two undercover decoy operations in the last week. The operations targeted establishments, within the city of Burbank, who sell tobacco products and alcoholic beverages to minors.

It is illegal, under the California law, to sell tobacco products to minors and sell alcohol to individuals under the age of 21.

The Vice/Narcotics Unit, utilizing underage decoys, attempted to purchase tobacco products and/or alcoholic beverages from 34 businesses during the two-day operation. Three citations were issued during the operation, one for selling a tobacco product to a minor and two citations for selling alcohol to an underage decoy were issued.

The cases will be investigated and submitted to the city attorney’s office for filing consideration against both the clerks and the retail outlets. In addition, the businesses who sold alcohol will face administrative action from California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC).
